Most of my post have been about the boy child when it comes to balancing our schedules for the past year, but now his sister is kicking butt and taking names. We received confirmation this week that Cherrie-Amaya will be walking in the 2018 New York Fashion Week.
(insert pregnant pause)
Okay now you may scream!
This adorable tween girl, my love bug, my baby girl, is preparing to strut her stuff on the runway at New York Fashion Week. Before we break out the confetti let’s discuss what this really means for me as her mother.
As previously stated in another blog post my daughter suffers from narcolepsy. Narcolepsy is a sleep disorder characterized by excessive sleepiness, sleep paralysis, hallucinations, and in some cases episodes of cataplexy (partial or total loss of muscle control, often triggered by a strong emotion such as laughter). We have been fortunate enough not to experience cataplexy thus far but everything else we’ve experienced over at one time or another over the last six years. The most frequent thing we experience is the excessive sleepiness.
Another major thing we have noticed is she “turtles” when she’s uncomfortable. You know how a turtle goes into its shell, well she does the same. She moves into a comfy position and falls asleep, literally anywhere.
For me, that means being overly cautious and staying overly prepared to keep her calm and upbeat. This trip has to be fun and not feel like work. Her best friend is walking as well and I’m hoping that will reduce her anxiety. Yall be in prayer for us, this is truly a lifetime opportunity but it comes with our own internal set of issues.
This momager has to juggle more than schedules. I have to balance attitudes, moods, and panic attacks all while running social media accounts talk about needing a reality tv show lol. Whelp cheers to 2018!
