Stage Mom Chronicles: Juggling life during Hell Week

As you know by now I’m a pastry chef.  Every year there is one week in May where all hell breaks loose. It’s our busy season! Graduations mostly drive business right now but a few weddings or other special occasions can sneak in on us.  Well, that week is this week. Now I did back off advertising my business this week on purpose once I realized it was my historical hell week….  And here is why.

Entrepreneurs as parents typically raise children who do the same thing. My son has multiple jobs.  He’s an instructor at two different performing arts training programs in addition to freelance writing and running his own blog.  On top of these gigs, he’s still trying to make it as an actor so he’s doing a few things here and there. I knew this week for him would be crazy but until I wrote it out I had no idea:

Sunday 10pm-7:30am (film)

Monday 12pm skype interview, 2:30-5:30 work, 10:30pm-7:30am (film)

Tuesday 2:30p-5:30p work, 10:30pm-7:30am (film)

Wednesday 2:30-5:30 work, 10:30-7:30am (film wrap)

Thursday 11am doctor appt, 4p-8pm work (tech rehearsal)

Friday 4pm-10pm work (play)

Saturday 10am-1pm (work at VS), 3pm Company audition

in the midst of his schedule, I will still juggle homeschooling his sister, prepping him for the ACT next month, and running my company.  It’s going to be a LONG week….. Seriously.  This is the biggest week of my year thus far.  The cakes are big, the demand for me to be perfect is big, the idea of juggling everyone’s sleep schedules, eating habits and personalities are all big.  Like I said it’s going to be a week from Hell, however, I wouldn’t change my life for anything!

Being a Momager comes with its “moments” and this is one of them.
